We consider that our Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital is a Temple of Eyesight. Eyesight is a quality of life issue. We stand up for millions of people to retain good vision. It is a calling.

With the diminished eyesight does not have to be an inevitable part of living long. Our eye specialist will sharpen your vision so you can see your way to a happy and future of longevity.

Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital (SFEH) is a comprehensive Tertiary Eye Care Services based at Visakhapatnam. We are working for the prevention of treatable blindness, offer complete patient care, sight improvement, rehabilitation services, and high-impact rural eye health programs, Research, Medical Education for DNB, Fellowships and Paramedical courses.

We have three categories of services:

1.Supporters Services (Semi paid or full paid) done in A-Block at the base hospital. Organize Institutional Camps.

  • Complete clinical evaluation of the eye.
  • Para-clinical services (microbiology and general physician services)
  • Ancillary services (optical shop, pharmacy, contact lenses and cafeteria)
  • Comfortable waiting areas with A/c facility.
  • Dedicated outpatient check-in and registration area
  • Special waiting lounges with Air Conditioned.
  • Special care for in-patients. All A/c Rooms.

By becoming a Supporter’s service / paid service you will also be contributing (cross-subsidisation) to the services provided free of cost to our Below the Poverty Line eye patient /non-paying patients.

We have an experience of treating over 19, 14,027 as outpatients and performed over 2, 78,472 eye surgeries as inpatients from 2nd June 1997 to 31st March 2018.

With the patronage of Paid patients and Donor / Corporate-CSR cooperation, our SFEH team is privileged to support 219,877 eye surgeries for the Below Poverty Line rural and tribal people at no cost to them (Approximately 79 %).

2.Free services (for below the poverty line, White Ration Card holders) done in B-Block at the base hospital and in Rural Camps.

3.Donor / Corporate Social Responsible (CSR).

Our eye hospital serves the population in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh and bordering districts of Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The Government of Andhra Pradesh recognized our Hospital as the Best Social Organization in the year 2002 and alienated two acres of Land to us at the foothills of Simhachalam. Knowing about our social work, Sir John Major, Former Prime Minister UK visited our Hospital and performed the Ground Breaking Ceremony of our hospital building on 5 April 2005. Lord Mervyn Davies, The Chairman of Standard and Charted Bank who also accompanied Sir John Major, and sanctioned an amount of Rs.2.26 Crores towards our hospital building fund. We have constructed the state-of-the-art modern eye hospital building with one lakh Square feet built-up area, on this land. We have raised funds from donors, and Corporate-CSR for construction of this new hospital building, to procure infrastructure, equipment, and support for community eye care. For each of these components has been titled after its patron – Dharma Daata, in recognition of their love, kind gesture and generous support.

With patronage of Paid patients and Donor / Corporate-CSR cooperation our SFEH team is privileged to support 219,877 eye surgeries for the Below Poverty Line rural and tribal people at no cost to them (which including propaganda, awareness, camp organizing, OP registration, Refraction, AR test, lab tests, syringing, transport, food, stay, surgical intervention with IOL, black spectacles, post-op care, refraction spectacles etc.) since the past two decades.

For further modernizing/replacing worn-out equipment for this eye hospital, we depend on your gift, bequeath and Corporate Social Responsible collaboration. Your continuous support may enable us to strengthen the existing infrastructure and /or upgrade our clinical facilities.
