LOW VISION SERVICES

Loaction : First Floor

This Department caters to the needs of those patients whose vision cannot be improved by either glasses, surgery or any other intervention. They are people who are left with minimal vision in both eyes and may occasionally include the completely blind also.

The following services are provided in the Low Vision department:

  1. Training in vision enhancement devices like telescopes, magnifiers and CCTV for etc distance vision ( black board reading)and reading small font (like news paper etc)

  2. Mobility Training with cane etc for easy maneuvering of environment.

  3. Computer training using special software for visually challenged persons.

  4. Vocational training for illiterate, visually challenged persons like stitching work, book binding, basket weaving etc.

  5. Children rehab services where visual assessment and visual stimulation of infants with suspected low vision. Braille education for blind people.

  6. Kitchen training and cooking techniques for visually challenged persons.

 

  Above all, emotional counseling given to visually challenged persons to enable them to lead dignified and independent lives. The   department boasts of well trained optometrist with several years of experience in low vision rehabilitation.
